Advances in Research Methodology and Publication Techniques

The distinguished speakers from academia were Dr. Bharathi S, Professor, Dr.Ambedkar Institute of Technology and Dr. Ashwini K B, Associate Professor R.V College of Engineering, Bangalore. The topics covered were latest developments in research methodologies, effective research writing, review process and journal article writing, and publication practices.
National Level Faculty Development Program on "Data Science with Python“

The resource persons for the FDP were Dr .Bharathi and Prof. Sobha Rani from Ambedkar Institute of Technology, Bangalore. The FDP was conducted in two sessions and covered the topics: Introduction to Data Science, numpy for Data Science, pandas for Data Science, Visualization techniques, Probability & Statistics for Data Science, Hypothesis testing, Predictive Analytics, Machine Learning algorithms, classification, Regression, Clustering with hands on demonstration.

The expert speaker delved into key examples, including the N-Queen Problem, where backtracking is used to place queens on a chessboard without conflicts, the Sum of Subsets Problem, which identifies subsets that add up to a target value, and the Hamiltonian Circuit, a graph traversal problem. He spoke about creative thinking and enhancing soft skills. He emphasized on the soft skills. He threw some light on the job trends in 2022 explained the latest requirements of the corporates. He gave plenty of examples of great leaders and visionaries to the students. He threw light on few traits required for being passionate and to have a purpose in life and career. He concluded by advising the students to make use of the golden opportunities available. The students asked few questions and said they looked forward to the best campus placement.

Dr. Suma V, Professor and Head, Department of Computer Science and Design, Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering, Bangalore served as the resource person for the boot camp. The topics covered were Introduction to research and Research Methodology, Research Paper writing and Publication, Patenting and Intellectual Property rights. The research boot camp was successful in making the students understand the research process extensively and thus facilitate to produce higher-quality research papers.

He explained the students the skills required for becoming a business analyst. He threw some light on career opportunities available in this field. Over all the entire session was a very fruitful one.

Summary: MCA Department in Association with Centre for Innovation and Leadership (CIL) conducted Two days training on “Communication Skills” for the 1st Sem MCA Students on 23 rd and 24th March 2022 between 9.30 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. Day-1 session was handled by Ms.Archana and she conducted many activities to emphasize the importance of communication skills, dressing sense, body language etc., The students enjoyed the activities and were very happy to have improved their communication skills. Day-2 was handled by Ms.Jeevitha. The session was more on presentation skills. Each student was given few words and they had to form a story and narrate it. This exercise was enjoyed by the students and overall the students were very happy with Two day CIL sessions and gave excellent reviews. It was fun learning for all of them

Summary: Department of MCA conducted a session on “Essential Employability Communication Skills” by Skill Development Specialist Mr. Krishna Kupapachi for MCA 2021 batch as part of Induction program on Day-5. Mr. Krishna covered essential topics of how to face interview in offline and online mode, technical skills required for computer science students, soft skills required and personality traits essential to face corporate world. Mr. Krishna explained dos and don’ts of facing an interview, HR and technical interview both aspects he covered in detail. He emphasized on practices like punctuality, creativity, functionalities etc to crack the interviews. Pre-Interview and Post-interview skills were also emphasized upon. There was a question and answer session at the end of the session. Mr. Krishna patiently answered all the queries.

Challenges and opportunities in the industry 5.0 were also discussed upon. He also appraised the students regarding the career opportunities in IOT.

Prof.Shivamma gave introduction to Data analysis and explained the difference between data and health care data. Benefits of R programming and how R can be used for data analysis was explained. Statistical skills required for R were explained. A demo of R studio was given. Also what are the roles and responsibilities of Healthcare analyst and requires skills for one to become an analyst were told. Career opportunities in Healthcare Data analysis were pondered upon. Question and answer session was held at the end of the session.

Summary: As a part of Induction Program for MCA 2021 Batch on the Day-2 Mr. Abhinandan, Alumni Student & Associate Engineer, DEVOPS from Global Logic held a session for MCA students on the topic titled” “Devops & Cloud AWS”.
Mr. Abhinandan gave an introduction about Devops & Cloud AWS and explained about DevOps how it enables formerly—development, IT operations, quality engineering and security—to coordinate and collaborate to produce better, more reliable products. By adopting a DevOps culture along with DevOps practices and tools, teams gain the ability to better respond to customer needs, increase confidence in the applications they build and achieve business goals faster. Shree Swami Mangalanathanandaji Maharaj addressed the students about “Using Stress to Evolve the Vivekananda way”. He also explained how to evolve through spiritual science finally ended his session with the quote “If you want to be happy share happiness”. Our second Chief guest Dr. Lipi Mukhopadyay addressed the students about “Psychosocial conditioning & behavior modification” she explained Psychosocial conditioning is what promotes us to think, believe, want and react in a way that is approved by society.

Department of Computer Applications- MCA in association with ISR Cell organized an "Old Age Home Visit" on 26th March 2022. Department of MCA organized and motivated students to create awareness about the neighborhood, to sensitize students towards social work and problems of aged people. The department visited "Prashanthi Old Age Home" at Mico Layout, Hongasandra, and Bengaluru by 10 A.M on 26th March, Saturday. Students and Faculty happily volunteered and donated the amount for the trust to help the aged people. The young enthusiasts cheered and greeted with a big smile and spent some valuable time with the aged people. They distributed fruits, biscuits and medicines according to their needs. Students also had some conservation with gentleman towards politics. It was an overwhelming experience and quite difficult to digest the reality that all were witnessed the elderly parents who were staying in Homes. It is an opportunity to discover Empathy among ourselves.
