Under entrepreneurship cell “UDYAMITA”, a workshop on “Case study analysis from real world examples” was organized by professor Dr. Savita Trivedi on 19-09-2024 for M. Com I year students. During the session various topics were covered like, entrepreneurship, young startups, Zomato, Digital marketing strategies, SWOT, Competition, Acquisitions, future plan etc. Exit test was also conducted which was focused on Zomato.

Success Stories of Entrepreneurs

Under entrepreneurship cell “UDYAMITA”, a workshop was organized by professor Dr. Savita Trivedi on 27-8-2024 at 11.30 am. in Business block, room No. 601, for M. Com II year students. Students shared their views and success stories of young entrepreneurs.

The Currency Quest

As it is important to teach financial literacy and entrepreneurship to students, a brainstorming session “The Currency Quest” was organized by professor Dr. Savita Trivedi on 27-8-2024 at 2.00 pm in Business block, room No. 601. M.Com II year students participated in this event. Currency Quest was a simple and effective activity to make students think creatively.

Orientation on Project Report 2024

Department of M. Com organised, an Orientation program on 10.7.2024 at 2pm for II M. Com students about Finalising Topic and Preparing Project Report as per BU norms. All students from II M. Com were present and all doubts regarding reports were clarified to the students. They were also guided how to select companies/area of study for their project report.

Mentoring Session

Mentoring session on topic- “An interaction regarding progression in studies and challenges faced by students” was conducted on 8th & 9th of July 2024 for M. Com I & II year students respectively. Mentors, Dr.Mahalakshmi V, Dr. Savita Trivedi & Dr. Monica Ranka had a discussion with students on various issues related to their attendance, syllabus completion, availability of study material, submission of assignments, issues related to infrastructure, time management , health issues etc.

Save Earth Save Life

The Eco Club of the college and department of M. Com organized Poster making competition on 5.7.2024 2pm, the theme was “Save Earth Save Life” for all students of PG in the college. Students from MBA and M. Com participated in the event.

Bizlab & CMA

An Orientation program on skill development program BIzzlab and on certificate program CMA was organized on 4.7.2024 at 2pm. Bizzlab is a skill development activity, the program enriches knowledge by which it helps students getting jobs in top companies by upskilling their knowledge as per requirement of present job trends.

Visit to Village

The Institutional social responsibility cell of the college organized Visit to village for shrama dhaan on 2nd and 3rd July, 2024. Students of I & II M. Com were taken to Herohalli to 2 temples on 2 different days with a task of one temple on each day to clean up the temple premises, all students cleaned the temple and restored beauty of the place.

Cultural Heritage Day

The Ethnic wear competition was organized for M.Com students on 29.6.2024 in CD Sagar Auditorium from 10am. This day of ethnic wear is celebrated as Cultural Heritage Day. The judges of the event were Dr.Chiluka Pushpalatha, HOD Hindi Department & Asst.Prof. Rashmi umarji Department of Commerce.

Colors Week

To signify unity in Diversity, Cultural club of the Department of M. Com organizes Colors Week. This year students choose synonyms for different colors and celebrated colors with the names like Scarlet day, verdant day, Azure day, ebony day and salmon day.

Fresher Day 2024

In Week of Welcome , The department of M.Com permitted final year students to oganised Fresher’s day 2024. The second years take the complete responsibility of event management. They also conduct competitions like treasure hunt , pick and speak mimicry and distribute prizes for winners for 1st , 2nd and 3rd place. On 6th February, 2024 fresher’s day was organized in CD sagar and Principal addressed the gathering about discipline and other important factors about college to fresher’s.

PDP

Disha Bharat, a non-profit social initiative started in the year 2005 with the sole objective of imparting values to the youth of this country, especially in the higher educaton domain with the theme Know Your Self, Know Your Culture and Know Your Country.

Induction Program 2024

Induction Program for freshers was organized on 10.1.2024 at 10.30 am in Galery4. Principal was chief guest with Vice principal inabsentia and IQAC coordinator Dr.Gurunath inducting the first year students. Principal spoke about Networking and Building Relationships, importance of Networking in this digital era building safely and building good relationships globally in the need of the hour for future growth and success.

Student Talent Show

On the Last day of Week of Welcome- WOW! Sessions Students Talent Show program was organised on 21.12.2023, Competitions were conducted like pick and speak, Guessing movie name logo identification, Paragraph writing. All students from 1st year participated in the event, Winners were distributed prizes. Second year student coordinators and Dr.Monica Ranka coordinated the activity.

Bridge Course

The week of welcome includes Bridge course for 3 days, 18th, 19th and 20th of December 2023-24. The Bridge course was conducted for 10 hours of class with respect to subjects prescribed by university to bridge the Gap between the Syllabus connecting from basic concepts of the respective subjects and fundamentals of commerce and management.

Student Excellence Workshop

The workshop on Student Excellence was organized on 14th and 15th of December 2023 at 10.30am in room No.602. The session was interactive and beneficial to the students. Achieving excellence along with academics is necessary for any student to explore the unexplored and reach the highest levels in career and academics.

A workshop on Positive Thinking for Competitive Exams was arranges on 13-12-2023 at 11.30am in Business block for M.Com first semester students.

Human Values and Ethics for Competitive Exams

The Essence of ethics and values of life is almost necessary for every human being to perform and succeed. It is necessary for students who take up competitive exams and perform to the highest in exams. A workshop on Human values and ethics was organized for M.Com students on 9th December, 2023 at 11.30am to 1.pm in room No. 602.

On first day of 1st year M.Com, Department of M.com organized Introductory session of Week Of Welcome through ppt presentation about college vision mission, University and department information, details of programs to be organized in week of welcome.

Annual Day 2023

The Department of Master of Commerce, DSCASC celebrated its annual day on 10th October, 2023, at the CD Sagar Auditorium, DSI. The celebration officially commenced with the launch of the event banner on the previous day, i.e., on October 9, 2023, at 11:11 a.m., at Building Number 13 DSCASC. This event took place in the presence of Chief Guest of the program Sathyamangala Mahadeva, Dr.Nagaraj Shenoy, Principal, Dr. V Mahalakshmi, Head of the M. Com Department, faculty members, staff, and the students of the 1st and 2nd year M.Com.

Soft Skills Training for Competitive Exams

Workshop organized on 8th September, 2023 as scheduled I calendar of events of the department, an initiative to enhance competitive skills of students Topic: “Soft Skills Training for Competitive Exams” , the resource person was Ms. Nisha.P Certified Soft skills trainer from Indian Leadership Academy.

Commerce Lab Activity

The vision of the Department is to develop students individually independent with excellence, with this focus The department of M.com Started Commerce Lab Activity during even semester 2023, students are trained for 20 hours allotted within the time table so that the students with this skill will be able to take up competitive exams and to face any corporate tests.

Sparda

On 12th August 2023 Interclass indoor games Chess and Carom was organized for I & II M.Com students. Judges were the faculty of the department; rule book was circulated one day before the events. The competition started from morning 9.30am and concluded by 1.30pm, the program continued with Inter departmental sports prize distribution in CD sagar auditorium.

Managing Stress during Exams

Mentoring and counseling cell "PARAMARSHA" of M.Com department has organized a mentoring session on "Managing Stress during Exams" on 10-8-2023 for M.Com I and II year students. Students were divided in four groups and resource persons Dr.Mahalakshmi V, Dr.Savita Trivedi, Dr.Pavithra S T and Dr.Monica Ranka took the session at 12.30pm in business block room number 601-604.

Soft Skills Training for Competitive Exams

Workshop organized on 8th September 2023 as per plan of the department initiative to enhance competitive skills of students "Soft Skills Training for Competitive Exams", the resource person was Ms.Nisha P Certified Soft skills trainer from Indian Leadership Academy. The session was to upgrade students with speaking skills, writing skills and enrich corporate culture.

Business Venture Simulation 2023

Business stalls were established by students of I & II year M. Com celebrating and competing in Business Venture Simulation 2023, Organised by the department of M.Com. The program started by Secretary Sri.Galiswamy Sir, inaugurating by cutting the tape at the entrance of the stalls.

Cultural Heritage Day

Department of M.com celebrated Attire week from 18 th to 21st of July, 2023. To remind the students about life journey the Human kind had passed through to arrive at the present digital world. Dressing in the style of Corporate, Retro and Ethnic/cultural wear was observed on these days. To mark this Occasion Cultural Heritage Day was observed on 20th July, 2023.

Debate Competition on Chat GPT

Literary Club of the department organized Debate competition for students of I & II M. Com on the Topic Chat GPT for and against on 18th July, 2023 in room No. 602. The Judges for the Event Were Dr. Subbulakshmi & Sri.Mukesh Sony from Department of B,Com & BBA.

Mathematical and Numerical Skills for Competitive Exams

Students of Final year will be completing their degree after 4th semester exam, they need to be equipped with skills necessary to get placement in premier organisations. Analysing the placement requirement of students, Department of M. Com has planned to organise Series of workshop to empower students with skills for competitive exams. On 14th July, 2023 the first workshop on improving Mathematical skills for competitive exams was conducted, Prof. Shobha.T Department of Mathematics, SFGC Yelahanka, Bangaluru was the Resource person.

International Yoga Day 2023

Under Sports club of the department scheduled to organize International Yoga Day for M.Com students on 21.6.2023. Students participated enthusiastically, starting with Meditation and Surya Namaskar, also taught each other few yogasanas helpful for healthy living.

Star Alumni Guest Lecture

Alumni Guest lecture was organized on 24-2-2023. Star alumni Ms Dakshayani V, Business analyst in Unibuddy addressed to students. She shared her experience during her journey to DSI and gave valuable tips to score good marks and get placement in reputed company.

Series of Guest Lectures

To enhance knowledge of students and to give them opportunity to interact with different people, department of M.Com organized series of guest lecturers from 10th of April to 19th of April 2023 for M.Com students. Highly knowledgeable resource persons shared their expertise with students.

Equity an Essential Component for Peaceful Coexistence

Internal Quality Assurance Cell, Equal Opportunity Cell, Ambedkar Study Centre and the Department of M. Com, DSCASC had organized a seminar on ‘Equity: An Essential Component for Peaceful Co-existence’ in association with Bangalore University at 12 pm on 26th April 2023 at Gallery 2, DSCASC.

Know your Income Tax

To reach the knowledge of commerce subject to non-commerce students specially in the area of Income Tax which is useful to every one need to be shared. With the idea of out reaching the subjects to other discipline students, our department organized Interdisciplinary special lecture program on “Know your Income Tax” to MCA Students on 24th April, 2023.

Quiz on Entrepreneurship

Quiz on Entrepreneurship under Entrepreneurship development cell “UDYAMITA” was organized for M.Com I semester students on 25th April 2023 at 11.30am in business block, building number 13, Room No. 602. It was organized to test students’ knowledge on present scenario of startups and challenges for entrepreneurs. Students participated enthusiastically. Quiz was organized by Professor Dr. Savita Trivedi. E-certificates were given to all the participants.

NSS Activity

Bangalore city is facing huge problems in disposing of waste and dumping place of waste and garbage. As our college is located in highly populated area, the students of M.Com 3rd semester participated in NSS activity and went on a survey on 11.4.2023, around the college locality to find out black spots an unusual and unpermitted garbage dumping.

Two Day’s Student Success Workshop

The Students of M.Com attended 2 days Student Success Workshop organised by the Department of M.Com on 5th and 6th of April, 2023. The students participated enthusiastically, and learnt about setting goals and follow-up of the goals till it is reached.

Research Methodology

The Department of M.Com Organised 6 days Faculty development program from 27th March, 2023 to 1 st April, 2023 on Topic: Research Methodology in Association with DSCE. The participants from all departments across DSCASC registered and participated.

Add on Course by Finmark

Through add on courses our college aims to impart job skills to students through various certificate programs. Students can complete these certificate courses along with their regular degree programs.

Environment Awareness Campaign

Eco club of M.Com Department organized an awareness campaign in DSI campus on 20-3-2023. Students prepared posters and wrote slogans on environment issues, causes and reasons of pollution and carbon footprint.

Personality Development Program

To equip students for life journey, Disha Bharat focuses on holistic character development of the youth through activity based workshops, motivational sessions and in campus programs.

International Women’s day

The Department of Masters of Commerce celebrated International Women’s day 2023 by organizing events for I & II M.Com like Rangoli, Mehendi, Cooking without fire competitions for both boys and girls and also observed embrace equity theme of 2023, by forming the human chain in the form of the symbol which signifies embrace equity, in the college grounds to spread the message of equality and equal opportunity.

Intellectual Property Rights Poster Presentation

Intellectual Property Rights Poster Presentation was organized by the Department of M.Com under Institutions Innovation Council. Students from 3rd semester M.Com were present with 3 faculties from the department. 1st semester students and MCA VTU students visited in the event.

Notice Board Posters

Department of Masters of Commerce organised Notice Board Posters even for I M.Com 1 st semester students on 10 topics from the subject International Business Environment, starting from 16 th February, 2023. Every week a group of two students were allotted a topic to prepare Poster for Notice Board.

Soft Skills & Pre-Placement Training

Soft skills play very important role in successful career of students. These skills are highly sought after by recruiters while recruiting fresh graduates.CIL at DSI offers wide range of enriching opportunities to develop competing skills of students. On 3rd of February 2023, soft skills training session was arranged for first semester students. Resource person Ms. Ruchi Gupta taught personal effectiveness, SWOT, time management, attitude, self motivation and goal setting. Students participated enthusiastically.

Orientation on CMA course from USA

An orientation on Certified Management Accountant (CMA) course was organized on 24-1-2023 at 12.30pm for M.Com students. It is an advanced Accounting Certification offered by the IMA. US CMA Certification will help students to formulate robust financial strategies

Mentoring Session on Mental Health and Wellness

In today’s life style, stress is spoiling mental health and making people very much anxious and depressed. DSCASC has mentoring and counseling cell to help students to overcome with stress. Mentoring session on mental health and wellness was organized for M.Com 2nd year students on 23-1-2023 at 10.00am in room number 505, business block, DSI. Resource person was Mentoring & counseling cell head, Mrs. Rashmi Sanil.

Industry Visit to BAMUL

As we all know that theoretical knowledge is not enough for successful professional career, going beyond academics, industry visit provides practical perspective of actual work place. Keeping this in mind an industry visit at BAMUL was arranged for M.Com students on 21-1-2023.

Under ISR Cell activities Department of M.Com organized visit on 21-1-2023 at 9.00 am to Kempe Gowda Government Public School, BSK III Stage, Bangalore.

Introduction of Grievance Redressal Cell

DSCASC has a Students’ Grievance Redressal Cell’. This cell aims to look into the complaints lodged by student in any department and then redress it. Grievance cell enquires and does analysis of grievance and redress it in a very confidential manner.

Picture Interpretation & General Quiz

Literary activities aim at developing and honing literary skills which are very much important for all round development of students. It helps them to think out of box. Literary club of M.Com students conducts various activities. M.Com literary club, second year students organized picture interpretation and general quiz on 14-01-2023.

Bridge Course for Fresh Batch 2023

Bridge course for fresh batch 2023 was conducted in second week of January in room number 602. Faculties Dr.Keerthi Arvind, Mrs. Vinatha B R & Mr. Tausif K M took the sessions. Though M.Com students have basic knowledge of commerce and management during their under graduation (B.Com,BBA), our faculty members gave them in-depth knowledge about business decision making, challenges, monetary system of India and importance of artificial intelligence in business.

Induction Program

Induction program for first semester students was organized on 30-12 2022 at 10.00am in class room number 603.On this occasion principal Dr. Nagaraj Shenoy, Vice principal Prof. Hemanth Uppala and IQAC Coordinator Prof.Gurunath addressed the gathering.

Placement Orientation

DSI has an elite placement division; headed by Mr. M.N.Guruvenkatesh. Placement division facilitates placement for all the students. Pre-placement and soft skills trainings enable students to apprise to modern corporate requirements. Placement orientation program for first semester M.Com students was organized on 29-12-2022 at 11.00am.

Cultural & Literary Cell Activity

Cultural & Literary activities were organized for first semester M.Com students. Students participated in solo singing & group singing competitions. Students also expressed their views in pick & speak competition. Topics were related to environment, business world, film industry, sports, values & ethics etc.

MoU with Primax Foundation,Summit Careers and Fin Mark

The aim of Add on courses is to impart job skills to students through certificate courses along with their degree certificates. It tries to mould students with employability skills. Our academic partners PRIMAX FOUNDATION, SUMMIT CAREERS and Fin mark have designed unique courses to equip students to face challenges in the job market. These courses not only improve their professional skills and knowledge but also boost confidence.

Prize Distribution Program and Farewell Party 2022 batch

Prize distribution program and farewell party for 2020-22 batch was organized on 10th October 2022 at Dr. C.D.Sagar auditorium, DSI. On this occasion principal Dr. Nagaraj Shenoy and IQAC Coordinator Prof. Gurunath addressed to the students and distributed prizes. It was coordinated by Prof. & head Dr. Savita Trivedi. Cultural events were also organized by first year students. They enjoyed the program. It was followed by lunch.

E-Ship Activity

Under Entrepreneurship Cell ‘UDYAMITA’ an initiative was taken to enhance skills of students and to generate creativity among them. M.Com students were taught and guided by Dr. Savita Trivedi (Prof. & HOD) about the same and they made useful, beautiful and amazing products from waste material. On 24th of August 2022 ‘Best out of Waste’ competition was organized. Students displayed their art and useful products made out of waste and participated enthusiastically.

Environment Awareness Campaign

Department of Master of Commerce organized environment awareness campaign on 16th August 2022.Students made posters showing environmental pollution, its causes and solutions. They also addressed about three ‘R’s, Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. The wrote slogans and addressed to auto rickshaw drivers, students and general public on challenges of increasing emission, benefits of car pooling and ‘Cycle Chalao’ etc.

Sill Enhancement and Capacity Building Programmes- 2022

Through effective skill enhancement, students become capable, confident and competent. It builds confidence in speaking skills and doing better in group collaboration. It also develops a greater sense of self awareness. It is important to survive and succeed.

Soft Skill Training

Soft skill training is very important for students. It provides practical orientation and helps them in improving communication skills. Soft skill and placement training were arranged for 1st & 3rd semester students in association with CIL, DSI. Training was held during 14th March to 15th March of 2022.

Entrepreneurship

Webinar on Entrepreneurship was conducted on 17th of April 2021 at 12.30 PM on zoom platform. Resource person was Dr. Vasanthkumar SA. He addressed students on 12 jewels of entrepreneurship an entrepreneur attitude. He conducted one quiz and make students to interact on various challenges of entrepreneurship during his session. Students raised their queries.

Workshop

Students success workshop was conducted on 21st & 22nd March 2022 for M.Com students. Resource person was Dr. Nagaraj Shenoy, Principal, DSCASC. During this session ‘Foundation Stones Level 1’, he motivated students and told to be serious for their future.

Seminar on Equal Opportunities Guaranteed in Constitution

Seminar on equal opportunities was organized on 21-03-2022 at 2.30 pm at Room No-603, 6th Floor New Business Block Building No 13. Resource person was Mrs. Anusuya K.P Advocate and Assistant Professor DSCE. She explained fundamental rights and duties, rights of equality, rights against exploitation and harassment. Induction program was conducted on 18th & 19th Feb 2021 at Room No 605, 6th floor Building No-13, new business block. On first day inauguration was done by Dr. Nagaraj Shenoy a gave brief about DSI rules and regulation after his inaugural speech Prof. Guruvenkatesh & Prof Gurunath R addressed to the students.

Academic session 2022 started with induction program and bridge course. During Induction program a webinar was organized on 15th Feb.2022 at 12:30 pm at zoom platform for M.Com students. Resource person was well known trainer and placement officer Mrs. Praveena Shivakumar. She shared her expertise on “Importance of Soft Skills in Personal & Professional Life.”

Mentoring Session

Mentoring session was held on 04-02-2021 at 10.00 AM at M.Com department, Room No 604 for 1st semester M.Com students. Dr.Sreeveena M R she explained online certificate courses which are part of syllabus. Students have to undergo with this and submit certificate for the end of every semester.

Alumni guest lecture was conducted on 4th February 2021 at zoom platform Introduction was given by Dr.Savita Trivedi. On this occasion alumni Ms. Ayesha A Senior associate Bank of America addressed to the students. She shared her experience and gave valuable inputs to the juniors for their placement. Awareness about Government Schemes

Dept. of M.Com, equal opportunity cell SMANVAYA Bangalore organized a webinar on “Awareness about government schemes” on 02-02-2021 at 4.00 pm at Zoom platform. Resource person Ms .Ramya K S provided important information on Government schemes for the welfare of society. It was a very informative session. Student raised various queries.

Mentoring session

Mentoring session was arranged by Dr. Savita Trivedi and Mrs. Shalini S on 29-01-2021 for 3rd semester M.Com students to guide them to overcome with stress and to understand the stress and worries of their parents which occurred due to Covid-19 pandemic. Some of the issues discussed were, parents mood or stress, physical health, relationship /interaction with parents, depression, mental and financial health, tips to reduce stress and have positive thoughts.

Alumni guest lecture was organized on 5th of Sept. 2020 at Zoom platform. Alumni guest speaker Ms. Bhargavi HB (Batch 2014-16) Asst. Professor, C.B Bandari Jain College Bangalore, shared her thoughts. Another guest speaker Ms. Suneetha K S (Batch 2014-16) Assistant professor St. Francis College, Bangalore, shared experience and gave valuable tips for the placement of junior students.

Debate competition was organized on zoom platform for M.Com first semester students on 12 June 2021 on topic “In present scenario, moral values and ethics are declining. ”Students shared their views in for and against of the topic.

Quiz on International business environment

Online quiz on IBE was organized on 15th of May at 9.00 am for first year M.Com students. As students have studied international business environment as a subject, they participated enthusiastically. Questions on FDI, monetary and fiscal policy, trade blocks, WTO, GATS, EURO, BOP, MNCs, & IPRs were asked. At the end of the session queries were satisfied.
